Mini Chiroptera

Completed Model

This is 22-inch wingspan flying wing made with the FT Slice plans as a guide, which itself is a scaled down version of the FT Mini Arrow (like the Crimson Chiroptera), but made with cardboard. Nice concept, but I wasn't going to waste my time making a plane from a greasy pizza box, so I decided to make it with foam board instead, with some adjustments.

For some reason this model suffered either from some receiver or servo issues, it would suddenly not respond to inputs at times, and the only fix would be to move the sticks to extremes to get the servos moving again. Eventually this lead to quite a few crashes to where it was unrepairable. With the new version, I added some balsa wood to the bottom to help reinforce the nose as this is where the major impacts usually occur.

Second Version with Reinforcement, After Unscheduled Landing Event

This is probably the most fun to fly of all my models so far. It doesn't need a large space, handles the wind rather decently, and can do loops and rolls with ease.
