Micro Bat FPV
During a shopping session on AliExpress, I ran across some small, cheap foam flying wings that touted it could be used for FPV. After getting a pair in the mail, upon unboxing I saw how small the space was inside the cockpit and figured there's no way it could do FPV, but figured it would still be a fun small wing to play with. The maiden was a success.
Well, during another shopping session, I ran across some small all-in-one modules that have a video transmitter with very small analog camera attached. It appeared to be small enough to fit, so decided to buy one and try it out. I should have known something like that existed seeing as the cameras and video transmitters in tiny-whoop drones are pretty small. Just like the Pico Goblin I made, there's no flight controller, just raw-dogging it since it's not necessary. At only 18 inches across, it's even smaller than the Pico Goblin (not to mention way thinner and lighter).
The camera and VTX module fit very well, only had to carve out a bit more foam to make room. The VTX apparently goes up to 200mw, however, even at the lowest setting, 25mw it gets ridiculously hot. Since I'm not using ELRS on it, and it's only 600 TVL, it's not meant as a long range bird anyhow, it's quite agile and more fun for smaller areas. Being so small and light, another benefit is the fact that you don't have to worry about flying around people, since it only weighs *** PUT WEIGHT HERE***. If someone got hit, it would feel like if you threw a small foam glider at them as hard as you could.
I made a simple battery holder utilizing the holes already in the bottom. I just cut off a small length of a zip tie (any small length of plastic would work), then doubled-up a small rubber band, put it through the holes, and secured it to the bottom with the bit of zip tie, with the force of the slightly stretched rubber band keeping it in place.
I bought some other ones that are 1200 TVL, so probably a much better picture. They appear to be only slightly bigger, so should probably fit alright. Will try it in the other foam wing since I purchased two of them.
A note on the videos: some of these videos are recorded from the FPV goggles. As such, the footage is analog, so if you have any epilepsy or seizure issues when seeing flashing images, do not watch the videos. The analog signal causes flashes and color changes constantly. Probably doesn't need to be stated, but if you get motion sick easily, do not watch these.
